What is the Pedal the Peel Cycling Challenge?

The inaugural Pedal the Peel Cycling Challenge was conceived and run by the Rotary Club of Tamworth First Light in 2010.

The Challenge was held again on the 21st October 2012, 12th October 2014 and 11th October 2015, with all events being an outstanding success.

The Challenge attracts over 300 registerations, with riders enjoying the scenery of the Tamworth area, followed by friends and family meeting them at the finish line for an afternoon of live entertainment at Moore Creek Tennis Club, Moore Creek Road, Tamworth.

How does the Pedal the Peel Cycling Challenge look in 2017

In 2017, our objectives are simple:

Support local community charities and not for profit organisations in Tamworth and the region by raising funds through this event

  • To raise over $30,000 from registration fees and general fundraising on the day of the event.
  • Attract over 300 entrants, and just as many people supporting the event day through volunteering and simply attending Moore Creek Tennis Club on Moore Creek Road to support the riders.

  • Under all circumstances.....have fun!

This year there will be a 4 Courses to choose from that all start and finish at Moore Creek Tennis Club on Moore Creek Road, Tamworth.

  • 15km Escorted Course
  • 25km Short Course
  • 55km Medium Course
  • 115km Long Course

These selected routes will take you around the some of the most picturesque countryside of Tamworth, Moore Creek, Kootingal, Loomberah and the Peel Valley.

And for those entrants that are new to cycling or would prefer the added safety of being under escort we will be running the escorted 15 km course again. The escorted ride is ideal for the younger entrants (aged 12 and over) or riders that may not have their road cycling awareness yet. It will be led by a safety vehicle and have experienced cyclists assisting riders along the course.

This year we have joined forces with the Rotarty Club of Tamworth Sunrise to host The Challenge and provide additional volunteers on the ground. If cycling isn't for you, please see our volunteers page if you would like to help out on the day of the event.
