Event Details

The event will take place on Sunday 18th April at the Tamworth Criterium Track with the eight hour event running from 8:00am until 4:00pm, and the four hour event taking place from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. The aim of the day is to raise funds for local charities - ALL funds raised for the day will be donated to local charities.

How does the event work?

The inside of the track will be for fast riders, with the outside being reserved for social riders. A maximum of thirty teams will be allowed to participate in the day, with a maximum of two riders per team allowed to ride on the track at any one time. Each rider is to nominate into the fast or slow track prior to riding. The rest of the team will be able to cheer their teammates on and participate in a range of activities across the whole day to win their team more laps!

Laps will be recorded through an electronic tracking system, with each team to receive two trackers. One electronic lap timer is to be worn by a rider on the criterium track when a team is riding. The second track rider will not wear a lap timer. The reason for this is to allow the next relay rider to replace an existing rider. The second lap timer is to be worn by the next relay rider who will replace an exiting rider.

The electronic lap timers remain the property of Rotary Club of Tamworth First Light and must be returned at the conclusion of the event.

Food and Drink

The Rotary Club of Tamworth First Light will provide registered team members an egg and bacon roll and a drink on the day without charge.

Some food and drinks will be available for purchase during the day, however we encourage all teams to pack their own snacks, water, supplements etc.

Prizes for the Day

Prizes will be handed out on the day under the following categories:

  • Most laps completed over the day (the team who claims this will be able to donate 25% of their raised funds to the local charity of their choice)
  • Most money raised for charity (the team who claims this will be able to donate 25% of their raised funds to the local charity of their choice)
  • Best dressed team member to win extra laps for their team
  • Best presented team to win laps for their team
  • Best decorated team tent to win laps for their team

Fun and Games

Teams are encouraged to adopt a team name and dress up for the event. Teams are also encouraged to set up a team tent to store you team food, drink, chairs and all things your team will need during this endurance event.

Teams are also encouraged to decorate their team tents - and be creative!

Extra laps will be given on the day for the best dressed team, craziest dressed team, best dressed riders and the best/craziest team tent.

The extra laps are to be added to that teams lap total - this could lead to your team being the winning team!

A range of fun events and competitions will take place across the entire day for those team members not riding. Winners of these events and games will be awarded additional 'laps' - i.e contribute to their overall number of laps completed on the day and increase chances of winning the 'Most Laps Completed' prize.

Music will be soothing your tired limbs across the whole day.
